The latest advances in technology has made content creation more affordable than ever for aspiring artists and musicians to create professional content from anywhere. It doesn’t take a $10,000 mixing boards and $2,000 mics to get quality vocals and decent mixes in 2025.

Equipment manufacturers like Hercules DJ and Korg are creating products that incorporate smartphones and tablets as computing hubs for DJ and producer set-ups, while platforms like Bandlab, empower creatives to take control of their own careers without waiting for major-label deals or needing access to big recording studios. While newer apps like Boombox aim to provide a cloud storage platform strictly for musicians, the tools and services that were once only within the reach of big music studios are now equipping home recording studios to take over the entire creative process.

Hercules DJ, won the 2025 CES Innovation award for their new DJControl Mix Ultra which allows for wireless integration with the Algoriddim DJay app on smartphones and tablets.

While Korg, has introduced the NanoKEY Fold – a compact foldable MIDI controller that seamlessly integrates with their Korg Gadget app.

The reality is that while big recording studios appear to be going out of business, they are still being booked for mixing and mastering sessions.
