In a world full of cloud storage providers, that aim to be an all-in-one solution for all – one company going by the name Boombox aims to be the chosen one for audio engineers, podcast hosts, musicians and more. Is its audio-centric cloud storage platform up for the task of professional audio storage and distribution? I tested it out for two months to find out.

Boombox is a complete ecosystem starting out with cloud storage – but expands to an online music portfolio with collaboration tools, a music review staff, boombox labs for creation and even digital music distribution.

So naturally, Boombox can store any type of digital file – but its management and handling of audio files is where it shines.

You can manage Projects, Playlists, or create folders at will – with a Scrap Box in place of a traditional Recycle Bin.

You can determine the accessibility of the files or folders you share by deciding if those docs can be commented on, downloaded, or edited.

At the heart of Boombox, resides its media player – a wave-centric music jukebox that serves you a pretty EQ style waveform as default in front of your file artwork and metadata. It comes complete with a hub for commenting, downloading and sharing – as well as playlist management.

Conclusion

Boombox is a formidable cloud storage provider with a robust toolkit for audiophiles and musicians. There are collaboration tools, advanced metadata analytics, and even distribution to streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. Their website is where you can access all of the tools available for Boombox including Labs and Boombox AI, as the feature set is limited in the mobile app.

Although their has been a recent UI overhaul in the mobile app, many of the innovative feature set is missing, and some options – like the ability to rename projects, folders and even files aren’t possible from the the Boombox app. Other platforms like WeTransfer and pCloud should definitely be concerned, once the feature set in the app catches up to the actual platform – Boombox will become a brand to be reckoned with.
