Xiaomi ‘s released the 14th version mid-cycle T series October 2024, alongside the 15,15 Pro and Xiaomi 15 Ultra. And rightfully so, as the Xiaomi 14T is more of a “lite” version of the newer models than ever before.
Who is Xiaomi?
Many US customers have never heard of Xiaomi, mostly because of the 2020 government ban of Chinese brands Huawei, Xiaomi, and ZTE. Around 2022, U.S President Donald Trump updated the ban on CCP-controlled companies list, removing Xiaomi and ZTE – but by then the brand damage had already been done.

Before the ban, Huawei AND Xiaomi were on the rise selling unlocked smartphones, tablets and wearables available stores like Best Buy and the now defunct Fry’s Electronics.
But let me put you up on game, from a global market standpoint – In China, Xiaomi is what Samsung is to customers in the US, and one that even Apple takes cues from – they are the first smartphone OEM to release an Electric Vehicle:

Xiaomi owns two other smartphone brands, Redmi and POCO – which are popular in India and the UK, and they’re known for having some of the best smartphone cameras on the market – these articles from 9to5Google and Digital Trends being two examples.

Xiaomi 14T Unboxing

In the box, you get a charger and Case – a common for Xiaomi devices – the usual pamphlet, and the smartphone.

The Xiaomi 11T comes in the colors, Titan Grey, Titan Blue, Titan Black, and Lemon Green which is the color of the unit I’m reviewing.
In person, the device is certainly more of a yellow golden hue – with the eco faux-leather back like Yellow Lemon, and the camera island/rail more of a Gold-ish shade.

Software

On the software front, it comes with HyperOS running Android 14 out of the box – but it’s currently on HyperOS 2.0.2 Android 15 as of Feb. 2025.

- Sleek Design: Ultra-thin bezel design with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display and a metallic body crafted from high-strength 6M13 aluminum alloy.
- Leica Optics: Triple camera system co-engineered with Leica, featuring a 50MP main camera with Leica Summilux optical lens, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens with 120° FOV, supported by Xiaomi AISP for advanced computational photography.
- Powerful Performance: MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra 4nm chipset with octa-core CPU and Mali-G615 MC6 GPU, paired with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
- Long-Lasting Battery: 5000mAh (typ) battery with 67W HyperCharge fast charging support via USB Type-C port

I have over 400 applications installed, but with 512GB of storage – I have over 300GB free.

Conclusion
I’ve only had the Xiaomi 14T for two weeks, so it’s a bit too early to conclude how reliable this phone really is. If the dependability and solid build of the 11T is any notion, all should be well. I’ll follow-up and update this review in a few weeks once I’ve had the chance to take the phone through the motions.
